Mazer - Crowd-sourced problem solving
The name ‘Mazer’ comes from the Japanese word Mazeru, meaning to mix, and is a tremendously interesting move from the government that looks to use social media in a unique and effective way.
This wikipedia-style approach to problem solving works through three main stages; firstly, a government-appointed “creative director” poses a particular problem or question to the nation. Crowd-sourced answers to the problem are next submitted through social media (Twitter etc), and finally, an “idea auction” of the winning idea (from popular vote) is held for private-sector companies interested in taking it further and actually implementing it.
Truly ground-breaking stuff. It empowers the people, problems are solved faster through a wider pool of talent, and those with winning ideas have the chance to make some money out of it. Very interested to see how this pans out… View high resolution
